Game Summary

The Blue Angels got back to the grind after over 2 weeks off due to weather and scheduling conflicts. The Blue Angels showed some rust in the 1st inning getting out scored 10-2 with the setting sun not helping at all. The offense put up at 10 spot of their own in the top of the 3rd inning without any home runs to gain at 16-10 lead. The 2 teams combined for 30 runs in the first 3 innings. Four male players hit home runs in a row in the top of the 5th and final inning. With only a 4 run lead heading into the bottom half of the 5th inning, the two home run outs could have been costly. The Blue Angels' defense managed a hold to end the 5 inning, time shortened game. #5 Candice McKenneyhad a break out game getting 3 hits, 2 of which cleared the 3rd baseman's head. Defensively, the 2 teams were error ridden throughout the game, however, the Blue Angels reserved most of their errors to the 1st inning when the sun played a large role with vision. Had there been no outs in the bottom of the 4th inning, with runners at 1st and 2nd, #39 Brandon MacKay would have had a legitimate triple play after a line drive to short had him running through 2nd base towards 1st base with the runners stunned. With the exception of one bad inning, the Blue Angels had a decent game to get above 0.500 for the first time this season with a record of 6-5 heading into a double header against a middle and top team.
