Game Summary

After a rained out game earlier in the week, The Blue Angels were back at it against a new opponent this season from the Fonthill league.  The game was close for the most part with the Blue Angels even holding a 1 run (8-7) lead after 4 innings.  Down 4 runs going into the 9th, the Blue Angels gave up 9 runs to put the game out of reach and making the score look worse than the game was actually played.  It was the second time in the game the Blue Angels couldn't get out of an inning (7 run 2nd inning as well).  Offensively, the Blue Angels were very consistent with only two blank innings, showing improvement as the season gets started.  Both teams hit their maximum 3 home runs, but unfortunately for the Blue Angels, only scored 4 runs on those home runs while the opponents easily scored 9 or more with theirs.  #84 Myles Calvert struck his first home run of the year out of the park in the bottom of the 3rd inning to give the Blue Angels that 8-7 lead.  #39 Brandon MacKay switched bats half way through the game, finding his stroke, as he hit his first 2 home runs of the season to lead off both the 7th and 9th innings.  Among the others to have a strong batting performance were #4 Leila Paugh and #6 Jame Mahon, both batting 1.000 for the game.  The defensive game for the Blue Angels left room for improvement, but as the season is young, most players haven't found a grove yet.  #3 Jamie-Lee Hogan showed great range in the top of the 1st inning, stealing a hit away from a better male player for the opponents.  #6 James Mahon made a circus catch in right field in the top of the 4th inning, bare handing the ball after it popped out of his glove.  The loss puts the Blue Angels below 0.500 for the first time in a long time with a record of 1-2 to start 2015.
