Game Summary
On a cold, windy night, the Blue Angels busted out of their offensive lull en route to a victory over a equally talented opponent. It was a back and forth game, affected by gusts of wind for the first half. The Blue Angels' bats were quiet for the first 3 innings, only managing 2 runs over that span while the opponents scored 9 runs in their first 4 innings. The bottom of the 4 inning marked the beginning of an offensive onslaught for the Blue Angels in which they scored 17 runs over the last four innings. The opponents certainly aided the Blue Angels' inflated batting average throwing the ball around the most of any opponent in the young season. However, that should not take away from the marked improvement of solid hits the Blue Angels managed including that from #6 James Mahon, #15 Michael Lavender and #11 Jessica Bredin. #5 Candice McKenney hit the ball well all night with only 1 hit to show for it. A fantastic pitching performance by #22 Sandi Schellenberg considering the gusty wind, no walks and a strike out all well getting pelted with balls up the middle. Defensively, the Blue Angels did well. The opponents were picking on the female outfielders, managing a pair of inside the park home runs. On the infield, the Blue Angels were dealing with injuries. This didn't stop #19 Michael McKenney from ranging to his right at short stop to throw out a would be base runner at first base. The win evens up the Blue Angels' record at 2-2. Up next, the 5-0 division leaders.
