Game Summary

  • The ManBearPigs found themselves in another close game versus an undefeated 1st place team.
  • After giving up 2 runs in the top half, the ManBearPigs had a 7 run bottom of the 1st inning facilitated by a grand slam by #19 Michael McKenney (1st counted home run of the season).
  • #5 Mike Frank led of the 1st with a solo shot, his first counted home run, and #39 Brandon MacKay ended the 1st inning with a home run out. Neither as impressive as a grand slam.
  • The opponents clawed their way back to a tie game (7-7) by the end of 5 innings.
  • Starting pitcher #39 Brandon MacKay had a decent outing but free passes (walks) were pilling up.
  • A managerial decision was made to send in relief pitcher #5 Mike Frank for the top of the 6th inning.
  • After a scoreless 6th inning, the opponents notched 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning to take a 9-7 lead.
  • The ManBearPigs did not score for 5 straight innings (2nd-6th) but came up huge in the bottom of the 7th inning with 3 runs to take back the lead (10-9).
  • The ManBearPigs won the 8th inning 3-0 to extend their lead to 13-9 setting the stage for a wild top of the 9th.
  • In that top of the 9th inning, the ManBearPigs committed 3 errors on easy force plays and fly balls before an out was made and with the go ahead run at the plate and 2 outs, the opponents had not used their home runs yet.
  • That male batter sent one out to left field where #46 Paul Eccles played the ball on a bounce and came up firing to 'home' or over the cutoff, either way, the ball gently rolled to the back catcher #17 Theresa Brooks who picked the nearly stopped ball off the ground before the run crossed the plate ending the game.
  • If the ManBearPigs could've scored even 1 run after the 1st inning for the starting pitcher, he could of got the first win of the season, but relief pitcher #5 Mike Frank was well deserving of the honour.
  • That being said, how about the consistency of the ManBearPigs' individual batting averages (see below).
  • #10 Doug Brascoupe screwed up the consistencyby batting 1.000 on the night with 3 infield 'singles'.
  • The ManBearPigs' record now sits at 1-3-1 on the season.
