Game Summary
This was a strange game for the Blue Angels. They pulled off a tight victory over a team that had just acheived their third win of the season earlier that night. The opponents, while markedly improved since the Blue Angels last played them, were taking advantage of an injured defense fielded by the Blue Angels who did not help themselves out where they could either. There were a few less plays 'made' then usual as opposed to actual errors. The Blue Angels were trailing in the game by as many 10 runs after the top of the 4th inning. The Blue Angels came back with 15 runs in their last 3 innings and went into the top of the 7th and final inning with a 2-run lead. The opponents scored one and had a runner at 3rd base with 2 outs when pitcher #99 Sandi Schellenberg struck out the batter to end the game. There was nothing wrong with the Blue Angels` offensive as they were getting hits from everyone in the lineup including a 2-hit performance from #7 Melissa Borowski who found her swing on this night. Both #8 Chris Herbert and #19 Michael McKenney scored 4 runs en route to perfect nights. There were nearly a full compliment of females present which made it hard to get in a rhythm, however, each female batter had at least one hit each, and many of them were clutch hits to keep the inning going which proved to be important. The win improves the Blue Angels' record to 17-1-1 and 2-1 in the month of July.
