Game Summary

Played at 3:45 p.m. at Complex #2, this was the finals for Co-Ed (Pod A).  Worth $300 and bat bags for first place or $200 and sunglasses for second place, the Blue Angels had already secured a good prize, however, they wanted 'the' prize, a tournaments championship.  The Blue Angels retained home field advantage by advancing straight to the finals earlier in the day.  The game began very close, each team scoring identical runs through 2 innings.  By the end of the 4th inning, the Blue Angels had built a 6-3 lead in part by a home run by error by #84 Myles Calvert, only to see it evaporate in the top of the 5th.  The Blue Angels would tie it back up at 7's in the bottom of the 5th and win the 6th inning 4-1 to establish an 11-8 lead going into the 7th and final inning.  Three fly balls by three different outfielders stranded a lone single on first to clinch the win and the championship victory.  Celebration ensued and beer was drank.  Everyone contributed in this game whether it be with the bat or solid defense.  Anything in the air was sucked up by the Blue Angels outfielders and the infield was forcing off lead runners every inning (exaggerates opponent's average).  Clutch, no walk pitching by #99 Sandi Schellenberg, and very timely hits and sac fly balls, especially by #7 Melissa Borowski, #8 Chris Herbert and #82 Andrew Piluso, kept this game close at all times allowing for one good inning to seal the deal.
