Game Summary
The Blue Angels finished the back end of a home and home against this opponent with a great defensive effort and they needed it as the offense could only mustard up 9 runs after scoring 42 runs in the first game. The Blue Angels' best inning was their 1st, scoring 4 runs, 3 off the home run of #82 Andrew Piluso, his 2nd of the season. #8 Chris Herbert knocked his 8th home run over the fence in the 2nd inning. That would prove to be the only offense the Blue Angels would need because they only allowed 1 run against in the last 7 innings, an all-star performance. Pitching by #99 Sandi Schellenberg was great, as always, and she was even able to grab a couple of the line drives up the middle this opponent is notorious for hitting. All 9 females played in the game which makes it hard to get into, especially with the low team at bat total. #16 Tracy McFee recorded her first career strike out in 52 games, which is being pointed out for the impressiveness of the feat. #23 Sabrina Piluso did well under those circumstances with 2 big hits, the only female to do so. The small diamond at Plymouth may have been factor for the males as the first 2 home run outs of the season were recorded for the Blue Angels, both of which were the first over the fence home runs of the season for #19 Michael McKenney and #39 Brandon MacKay. Whatever the reason, the Blue Angels were fortunate to have such a great defense on this night and were able to complete the season sweep of this opponent. The Blue Angels ended the month of June 10-0 in the midst of an 11 game win streak and improve to 15-0-1 overall on the season. The next opponent will be the toughest yet this season.
